Pics from the Plane (part 3)

Love my sun pictures:

The Jacmel Airport...They are building on to it. One rumor is that it's becoming an international airport with flights from the DR. Another rumor is they are starting scheduled flights from Port-au-Prince again:

Michoue

In June of 2007 Michoue left our home. After months of disobedience, not listening, and many talks. Michoue decided to leave. She packed up her bags and left for Port-au-Prince. We have only seen her once since then, though she has been constantly in our prayers. Last Saturday she came for a visit with her 6 week old baby, Dave. After traveling all night on a boat she landed in Marigot, town outside of Jacmel.

They look good. It was fun to take them to the market to buy some baby stuff and church clothes.

On Sunday Danny introduced her to the church. It was such a blessing to see the church body love and shower her with hugs and kisses.

We are hoping she will stay with us until Christmas. It has been great seeing the kids spend time with her and the baby. We are hoping that when she leaves, she knows she is loved.

Please keep Michoue and baby Dave in your prayers.

And We're Off...Again!

Well, Riann and I are off to Florida for the next 2 weeks. Usually this is our time to spend time with our family. For those that don't know, when you are missionary in the States you are always running around buying this, seeing this supporter, fixing this problem, getting that renewed. It is exhausting and you usually don't have much time for family. Well this trip is a little of both for Riann and I. We will be visiting my family and Danny's family.

However, we will also being trying to raise some much needed monthly support. It's weird, we haven't raised support for ourselves since we moved to Haiti 5 years ago. God has blessed us. So I ask for you prayers as I travel alone with Riann. Also, that we will be received well at the churches I am speaking at. I'm praying that I will be able to plant a seed as the Christmas season is coming soon. Also that I won't pass out, because I HATE public speaking.
Thank you for those that do lift my family up in your prayers and those that support us. We are unable to stay in Haiti without God and you.

Magdaline...

Please pray for Magdaline, that I won't kill her before she kills herself (great way to start off a blog, right?!?!)

As you may or may not know, Magdaline is an albino Haitian. In a culture where 99.9% are black, when you are white you stick out. But when you are Haitian and white, you stick out
more, that's our Magdaline. She has had a hard life for only being 14 years old. Anyways, when you have very little melanin in your skin you need to wear sunscreen. It is a constant battle with Magdaline to put sunscreen on.
Last Wednesday she went on a field trip with her class. Stupid, forgetful Mom (me) didn't remind her to put sunscreen on. So she got burned, bad. I've been putting aloe on her 3-4 times a day. Nevertheless she is blistering around her neck. I want to cry when she is in so much pain and I want to kill her for not remembering to put on sunscreen. I know it's only going to get worse because Magdaline is a picker. She picks at herself...cuts, scabs, blisters, etc. until she bleeds or it gets infected and she needs to take oral antibiotics. I'm really hoping her neck hurts enough that she won't touch the blisters. But most of all, I'm really hoping she learned her lesson and will remember to put on sunscreen!!! Because Magdaline is an albino, her chances to get skin cancer at a young age is huge. Please keep Magdaline in your prayers.

Princess Riann

Mama Gwenn brought Riann this 'Princess' dress. She LOVES it and hasn't taken it off:

Also in 'school' today Riann wrote her name for the first time all by herself. She is growing up so quickly and is so smart:
